Nkosinathi Hadebe

R.I.P.

Nkosinathi Hadebe started working in church choirs in his hometown of Mnambithi, Natal, and continued this work when he came to Johannesburg.

In the big city, he expanded his musical experience to include jazz and theater and worked with some great legends in Afro-jazz and gospel.

He has been involved with the revival of the Junior Manhattan Brothers, which was hugely successful in the 1960s.  He performed with jazz legends Dorothy Masuka, Dolly Rathebe and Sophie Mcgina.

Then he got an opportunity to perform in London, U.K. with Tsepo Tshola and Deborah Fraser to celebrate South Africa’s Freedom Day.  He also appeared in the movie “The Drum”.
