Nertia Mofokeng was born in Mpumalanga, Amersfoort.
She recently moved to Senadane, Soweto, to live with her mother.
Nertia completed school in 1998, and her dream was to become a radiographer, but her love of African dance and singing inspired her to join the Vuka Lova Arts and Cultural Group.
In 2002, she met choreographer S’bonile Ngubane from African Footprint, who took her to Korea and Japan to perform during the World Cup.
Nertia, a devoted Christian, joined Soweto Gospel Choir in January 2006.
