Mazwe Mhlongo (also goes by Mazwe Shabalala) comes from a family of performers–his father was a well-known comedian and actor, having performed on both stage and screen in South Africa.
Originally from Kwamashu in Natal, Mazwe first performed with the Bafana Dance Group which won a Shell Road to Fame competition in 1987.
As a child dancer he then joined Mbongeni Ngema’s European tour of “Sarafina”. He toured Germany with Skulu Musical Show in 1993, as well as touring with Ipi n’Tombi and the musical show Bergville Stories.
Mazwe has been a member of the Soweto Gospel Choir since 2002 and has contributed to it’s success, both musically and choreographically.
