Cheeks Baloyi is big in stature and big in heart.
He is the 52nd child of 55 children born to his father and his 6 wives in the little Xihoko Village near Tzaneen in the Limpopo Province. Cheeks’ mother was the last and youngest wife.
He started dancing at primary school and joined the church choir in the village. When he came to Johannesburg he joined the Holy Jerusalem Choir and performed to Nelson Mandela and other dignitaries.
He has also performed as a traditional ‘praise singer’ at many important functions.
